Implant Product Lines

Dangerous Things offers three basic types of implants.

The first are the x-Series line — injectable glass-tube implants that come pre-loaded inside sterilized injector assemblies. This is the same design animal implants have used for decades. "Tried and true," as they say, and because they come pre-loaded, the installation procedure is extremely straightforward.

The next are flex implants — flat, thin devices encapsulated in a flexible biopolymer resin. They require specialized installation procedures that vary by shape and size.

The last are our bioresin line. Like flex, these are larger and require specialized installation; unlike flex, they are rigid and thicker.

Because the designs, production processes, and installation procedures differ so much across these types, each carries its own warranty policy.

Shipping for Warranty Replacements
At our discretion, Dangerous Things may require the customer to cover some or all of the shipping costs associated with a warranty replacement. Our general policy is that replacements after 12 months on x-Series and 6 months on flex will incur a shipping charge, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
X Series and Bioresin Implant Warranty

Our x-Series and bioresin implantable products carry a limited lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defects for the life of the product line. As long as we are still producing the product and it is still in stock, any failure due to manufacturing defect entitles you to a free replacement.

Failure due to damage — including mishandling, programming errors, data tearing, handling with forceps or any tooling, personal injury, etc. — is not covered, but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Flex Product Warranty

Flex products are difficult to cover with a warranty because of how easily they can be damaged during installation. Flex products cannot be autoclaved. The steam-sterilization process used by most professional body-modification artists, piercing professionals, and small general-practice medical doctors with in-office surgery suites will fundamentally damage the biopolymer and let moisture infiltrate the internal electronics over time.

The polymer coating is robust but very thin. If a flex device is handled with forceps, tweezers, or any tool other than a sterile gloved hand, it can be punctured in ways that allow moisture to creep in and damage the encapsulated electronics.

Flex products carry a 1-year limited warranty, conditional on installation by a professional and the installation procedure being recorded in one or more videos showing:

1) the flex device being removed from its vial, pouch, or polymer bag onto the sterile field;
2) the flex device being picked up and manually installed by the professional without tools.

Only these elements must be shown. You do not need to record or show the installer's name, face, location, procedure prep, etc. — only the handling from shipping condition to sterile field, and the installation from sterile field to incision. Audio is not required.

If a flex device fails due to manufacturing defect and installation videos can be provided, you'll be entitled to a free replacement. Failure due to damage (mishandling, programming errors, data tearing, tooling, personal injury, etc.) is not covered, but will be considered case by case.

Limited Warranty on Other Products

All other product categories carry a 90-day limited warranty covering proper operation and durability after receipt. We define defective as a verified deviance from documented (or reasonably expected) operation and durability for that category.

Implements — any implement found to be defective within 90 days of receipt will be replaced.

Wearables — any NFC wearable found to be defective within 90 days of receipt will be replaced.

Accessories / Electronics — any accessory or electronic apparatus found to be defective within 90 days of receipt will be replaced.

Merch — apparel or any other miscellaneous merchandise (anything not in the categories above) found to be defective within 90 days of receipt will be replaced.
